5-11th June – 350 miles over 5 days – From Ypres, Belgium to Verdun, France
Nick Hilton of Good Carb Food will be representing Lizi’s Granola when he takes part in the iconic Big Battlefield Bike Ride, raising money for the Help for Heroes Support for our Wounded initiative.
Under the brand of “Lizi’s Granola”, Nick will join the Help for Heroes riders in a moving and emotive journey through history: cycling in Northern France to tell the story of the Western Front.
Few words invoke the same feelings of horror and incredible loss as the ‘Western Front’ – a deadlock between forces during WWI and the scene of some of the best-known battles in history.
The route starts in Ypres and they’ll make their way towards Verdun. They’ll learn about the events of 100 years ago that shaped the countryside and the lives of those men and women who experienced it.
As well as remembering the incredible sacrifices made by all those who fought along the Front, they will have the opportunity to celebrate the Heroes that are collectively supported by the charity – riding alongside the Band of Brothers and hearing their inspiring stories first-hand.
The battles of WWI may have ended nearly 100 years ago, but the battles faced by our wounded, injured and sick Service personnel continue. The Big Battlefield Ride aims to raise £700,000 to ensure their battles are not fought alone.
Lizi’s Granola wishes Nick the best of luck on his epic ride for such a worthy cause.
